"European Films Week", organized by Samsun EU Information Center, which continues its activities under the umbrella of Samsun TSO, has started in Samsun. The Lithuanian film "Runner", which was released on the first day, attracted great attention from moviegoers.
European Films Week, organized in 10 cities in Turkey, started simultaneously in Antalya, Bursa, Denizli, Diyarbakır, Edirne and Mersin, along with Samsun, after Ankara, Eskişehir, Trabzon and İzmir. The first film of the event, which will continue until September 28 in partnership with Samsun EU Information Center, which continues its activities under the umbrella of Samsun Chamber of Commerce and Industry (STSO), and Eflatun Kitap and Samsun Cinema Community, was the Lithuanian production, "Runner". Cinema lovers from Samsun showed great interest in the movie, which was screened free of charge at Paribu Cineverse Samsun Yeşilyurt AVM Cinema Hall.
“These movies are not available at the box office”
Inviting all movie lovers to the event, Samsun Chamber of Commerce and Industry (STSO) Chairman Salih Zeki Murzioğlu said, “We have been hosting the EU Information Center under the roof of our Chamber since 1997. During this time, we, as Samsun EU Information Center, organized dozens of social and cultural events. We are happy to introduce European films that we cannot find at the box office to our people, again, with a very special event. As we know, film festivals aim to bring art, artists and audiences together. Its effects continue not only during the performance but also in many areas after the festival ends. International film festivals are events that bring societies and cultures closer. We aimed to create a bridge between EU and Turkish cultures in our city with the European Film Week event we organized. "Cinema fans can purchase their tickets from the cinema box office and watch fascinating European films one day before the screening," he said.
