Bayram said that Chinese companies are in search of a field in Turkey, especially in battery and electric vehicle production, and that negotiations are continuing. Bayram stated that they expect Turkey to be the electric car and battery production center of at least 2-3 companies in the next 5 years.
TEHAD President Berkan Bayram stated that the country from which EU countries import the most in the automotive market is China, while Turkey ranks second. Bayram pointed out that China already has investments in this field in Europe and other geographies, and said, “Two months ago, there was a total tax increase in import items, which corresponds to 54 percent in automotive products against China. Therefore, in order to eliminate this disadvantage, China has to make an investment in Turkey. In addition, when you look at China's logistics in this sense, there is an element that actually increases the costs. Türkiye is the closest location to Europe. " said.
“Investments in electric vehicles and connected technologies will return us employment.”
Expressing that they expect Turkey to be the production center of at least 2-3 electric car and battery companies in the next 5 years, Bayram said, “We have to do whatever is necessary with the cooperation of the private sector and the state in order not to miss this potential. We are trying to reduce our dependence on fossil fuels. So we can no longer go one step further there. But electric vehicles and their connected technologies, that is, from autonomous driving to artificial intelligence, from charging stations to electricity storage and battery technology, all of these are actually sectoral structures that produce added value, and all of these will return to us as employment. Therefore, as much as possible, we have to combine our global brands with companies in Turkey or bring them to a common table and reach a consensus of mind.” said.

The fact that it was able to get over 150 thousand pre-orders in the first stage is a huge success. We saw this at TESLA in 2015-2016. People were queuing in front of the TESLA Store at night so that we could get their name written on TESLA's pre-order the next day. We saw this story with TOGG. This actually shows us that there is an electric car market of 150,000 units in Turkey every year. Because the pre-order proved that to us.” said.
