The Second Edition of the Sound of Europe Festival Ends

The second edition of ended on September 26th. Within the scope of the festival, nearly 6000 people watched more than 30 concerts given by more than 70 local and foreign artists in four different cities. The Sound of Europe Festival, which met with the audience in its second edition this year, met with music lovers in Istanbul Alan Kadıköy, Ankara Çankaya Ahlatlıbel Atatürk Park and İzmir Bostanlı Observation Terrace between 22-24 September, and then visited Hatay Samandağ Ali İsmail Korkmaz Park on 26 September. It brought together everyone who wanted to listen to new voices. Sound of Europe Festival, which featured a wide selection from jazz to rock, hip-hop and rap to solo piano and electronic music, ended its second edition with great interest from music lovers. Within the scope of the festival, nearly 6000 people watched more than 30 concerts given by more than 70 local and foreign artists in four different venues. The festival brought music lovers together with innovative names of music from Europe and Turkey. Visitors enjoyed the inexhaustible energy of summer at the festival's concerts held simultaneously in Istanbul, Ankara and Izmir between 22-24 September. The audience met with Chefket, one of the newest names of hip-hop and rap, in three major cities, 7th Sense with their simple yet effective performance, and Sunkissed Child, who had a unique performance with the vocals of Yasmina Nahas. With his solo piano performance, Martin Brunner impressed the audience with his calm yet gripping performance. Coşkun Karademir, the master of baglama and kopuz in Turkey, who was a guest on Brunner's stage, offered the festival visitors the opportunity to listen to the tones of different cultures together. Monika Bulanda, who is well-known in Turkey as well as European music lovers, gave her listeners a unique concert experience with her concerts specific to Polish and Turkish folk music, and the Danish Turkish psych rock band Tuhaf. Also in Ankara within the scope of the festival will be Kid Colling with the warmth of his voice and creative approach to music, Candlelight Ficus with his energetic performance that sweeps the listeners off their feet, Effetto Carsico Trio with their original jazz pieces that sometimes lean towards rock and pop rock, and known for the cultural references of their pieces that extend to Sephardic music. Mara Aranda and the master drummer and percussionist Tarık Aslan were on stage for those who wanted to listen to unconventional and new musical genres. Sarp Keskiner, one of the most successful names of the Turkish blues scene, and Dutch guitarist Jan Wouter Oostenrijk, who shuttles between jazz, blues and rock, performed at the Sound of Europe Festival in Hatay, which brings everyone together with the uniting and empowering energy of music, with their never-ending enthusiastic stage performances and references to the double-telephone. Music lovers were together at the concerts of Deli Teli with their songs, Ulaş Özdemir, one of the well-known musicians of Turkish Folk Music, Adile Yadırgı, one of the well-known voices of the genre who accompanied him on stage, and many other artists. In addition to these names at the Sound of Europe Festival, Salut de Smyrne from the Turkish music scene, emphasizing the cultural richness of Anatolia and the Mediterranean with its pieces in Turkish, Greek, Arabic and Ladino, also called old Spanish, and Ukulele Ankara Ensemble with its colorful and energetic Hawaiian pieces. Goril Reggae Band, which gives everyone a unique concert experience with their music inspired by reggae and blended with dancehall, afrobeat and dub sounds, Doludizgin with their original interpretations of the contemporary bard of Turkish Music Barış Manço's songs, and multi-instrumentalist and composer Sercan, one of the productive names of the local jazz scene. Debelec Sextet met with the audience. This year, the festival further expanded its program with master classes bringing together amateur and professional musicians, helping to develop and consolidate cultural dialogue. In workshops held in Istanbul and Ankara, Sunkissed Child's Yasmina Nahas delved into the creative and business aspects of the music world from a female musician's perspective and shared her experiences on gaining respect in a male-dominated industry. In Istanbul; Mara Aranda was with young musicians with her talk in which she examined the origins and historical journey of Sephardic music. Sound of Europe Festival, which aims to create a common dialogue and cultural interaction platform by bringing together 13 different music groups from Europe with local artists from Turkey on the same stage, will continue to host music lovers with its expanding program and artist selection in the coming years.
